Make-A-Difference Month is a month-long challenge in April 2012. Each day will bring a new daily Challenge of one way that you can make a difference. Some Challenges will be larger than others, for example, the days that we talk about the merits of home solar panels and hybrid cars. Other Challenges are small and simple, designed to ease you into more environmentally-friendly choices, such as switching to online billing and bringing a reusable shopping bag with you to the grocery store. The ultimate goal is to work towards lessening our impact on the environment as individuals and as a community. Along the way, we hope to show you how easy this can be if you take it one day at a time.
Here’s how each day is going to work:
(1) Each day of the week has a theme. Sunday’s theme, for example, is a day of Giving. That means that each Sunday our blog will feature a Challenge that has to do with Giving, whether it is giving time, money, or giving away old clothes or toys that you don’t need anymore.
(2) For each Challenge we will list a few reasons that adopting this practice will positively impact the environment and your community, as well as a personal testimonial of someone who has taken this step in his or her own life.
(3) Then we will issue the Challenge to you. If you choose to undertake it, let us know! The more you engage, the more chances you have to win a prize in our weekly drawing! Comment on the blog, share it on Facebook or on Twitter, send us a picture of your hybrid car or your new CFL lightbulbs or a description via email, or share a post with someone else to inspire them–and we will enter you in a weekly drawing to win a fun, environmentally-themed prize.
Drawing: There will be 5 weekly drawings on the following dates: 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30, 5/7. We will select a name randomly on Monday morning and contact you if you win!
Pinterest: You can also follow the Mobile Baykeeper Pinterest account. We have created a Make-A-Difference Month board with even more great ways to make a difference.
Remember, even though the world is big, together our impact can be even bigger. It all starts with you.
Let’s make a difference!
